The two best-known apps do not run on your device
- forScore is Apple-only. OnSong’s own support page calls it an Apple-only app.
- Most “best of” lists were written for iPad and mention Android as an afterthought, if at all.
- The advice you do find is often years out of date — one of the top-ranking Android roundups is dated January 2019.

Where Star is not the right answer
If you want a solo songbook on Android and nothing else, buy SongbookPro. It is about $7 once on the platform you buy it for, it is rated 4.5 stars from about 3,000 reviews on Google Play (checked 25 Aug 2026), and paying us a subscription for that job would be a worse deal for you. Star earns its keep when you need the team, the hymnals, or the slides.

Is there a free tier?
Yes — up to 10 shows and 25 entries per show, with no time limit.
Will my library sync to a phone and a tablet?
Yes, and to the browser. The library is tied to your account rather than to one device.
Why should I pay a subscription when SongbookPro is a one-time purchase?
For a solo songbook, you probably should not — see the comparison above. The subscription pays for the parts SongbookPro does not do: shared team libraries, hymnals, and presenting the service.
What if the year turns out not to be worth it?
Take it back. Use Star for four Sundays, and if it has not earned the money, email us within five weeks of the charge and the whole year is refunded — nothing to prove and nothing to send back. Your library stays in your account.
